It’s cold again. So cold that the insulation from the outdoor plugs froze to the outlet. And yet, I didn’t plug my car in, and it started. Bundle up out there!

It’s often the case that the top of Mount Washington, which is only 40 miles from me laterally, is as cold as the Antarctica weather station, or colder. Mind you, it is not like that where I am, down “in the valley” but still, entertaining. And also the reason why so much cold weather research goes on up there, it’s a heck of a lot more accessible than Antarctica.

My legs were tingly from my 10 minute walk to the bus stop in Minneapolis this morning.

I mean it’s important to remember it’s summer down there. I did Christmas in Antarctica (not the South Pole, along the coast) and it was generally about freezing or a little above. Plus all day sunlight! Really more pleasant than almost everywhere else I’ve ever been for the holidays weather wise.

I’m driving from Indiana tomorrow to Florida, which seems like it’d be a big improvement, but Atlanta’s apparently staring down the barrel of a snowstorm, so I don’t know how long it’ll take me to get there.

I hate driving through Atlanta under the best circumstances, and a winter storm on the way south and the Super Bowl on the way north is NOT THE BEST CIRCUMSTANCES.

Often I’ll drive along the coast or through Alabama/Mississippi just to stay the hell away from Atlanta, but that’s not an option given my compressed travel schedule. Not sure yet what I’ll do this time.

See if you can get something postponned or otherwise dealt with. Better drive safe and arrive alive than to chance Atlanta in a snow storm.

The door on the truck contracted in a way, that the interior lights came on over night(they were definitely off when I locked it yesterday).

Ouch! Glad I am south enough that all we got was a 10-15 degree drop in temps
